This is a good way to illustrate a mathematical function of 2 variables. In this example we are plotting the size of the 'tank' you can make from a rectangle of material of a fixed area of 400 square.
It is clear that a square gives the best result for all cutout sizes, but that the result is much more sensitive to the cutout size.
